Korea to Bar Employers with Wage Theft or Safety Violations from Hiring Foreign Workers

Korea's Ministry of Justice has proposed restricting employers found guilty of wage theft or safety violations from hiring foreign workers, following a fatal forklift accident involving an E-9 worker in February. Separately, the 2026 minimum wage is 10,320 KRW/hour (2,156,880 KRW for a 209-hour month) - contracts paying less are invalid, and workers can claim the difference regardless of visa status, even after leaving Korea.
