How to Extend Your Visa in Korea (Easy Guide)

If you are staying in Korea, you may need to extend your visa before it expires. The process is simple if you prepare well. Here is an easy guide to help you.

1. Check your visa expiration date Always check your visa or Alien Registration Card. Apply at least 1 month before it expires.

2. Prepare required documents Common documents include passport, application form, ARC, proof of stay (contract), and financial proof. Some visas need extra papers.

3. Make an online reservation Visit the HiKorea website and book an appointment. Walk-ins are difficult, so reservation is important.

4. Visit the immigration office Go to the assigned immigration office on time. Bring all documents and a small fee (usually around 60,000 KRW).

5. Track your result After applying, you can check the result online. Processing usually takes 1–3 weeks.

Summary Check your date early, prepare documents, book online, and visit on time. Tip: Always bring extra copies of documents to avoid problems.
