16 Universities Face Tighter Visa Screening Starting Fall 2026

유학생 비자심사 강화대학 16개교 지정, 2학기부터 비자 발급 제한

Following a review by Korea's Ministry of Education, 16 degree-granting universities and 4 language institutes were designated 'visa-scrutiny' institutions, facing restricted visa issuance for one year from the second semester of 2026. Criteria included undocumented-stay rates, tuition burden, language proficiency, and legal-education programs. Meanwhile, 39 top-rated universities gained benefits like simplified visa procedures. Prospective students should check their target school's certification status before applying.
